February 2009 saw the launch of the newly developed the Certificate in Radio Broadcasting (Level 4) at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.  This new qualification was developed to replace the outdated National Certificate in Radio Foundations Skills (Level 3) which has already had a number of its unit standards expired.

The year long programme, involves coordinated work experience opportunities at our local radio stations while providing specialist tuition in; announcing, audio production, copy writing, music programming, radio sales, promotions and marketing and broadcast news.  Industry representatives from the leading networks tutor and support students in specialist broadcast disciplines with additional tutorials including speech and Te Reo pronunciation.

Adrian Maidment, the programme coordinator has over ten years media experience and is passionate about helping students achieve their best. 

Students studying Radio at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic will find themselves at the heart of student life on campus as they hear themselves broadcast on their own fully functional FM radio station SUB 88.3FM & 107.7FM.
